In Photography I and II at BVW, students are still using traditional film processing and printing techniques while they experiment with various alternative methods.  In the end they choose what they feel is their strongest work to create online portfolios.  As their instructor, I feel they need to be rooted in traditional methods but also be able to use current technology to share their knowledge, talent and discoveries with others.
I grew up just outside of Lawrence, Kansas and went to McLouth High School.  Upon graduating high school I went to Fort Hays State University and earned a bachelor of arts in art education.  Shortly after I got my masters degree in education from Mid America Nazarene University and have continued taking classes through Kansas City Art Institute, Baker, University of San Diego, and MNU.  I truly love to experiment with all forms of art, considering myself a master of none but an explorer of all.  I began my first teaching job at Overland Trail Middle School in 1999 and transferred to Blue Valley West High School in 2007 where I remain. Currently I teach Photography, Ceramics, Design Fundamentals & Textile and Fiber Design. Thanks for visiting our sites!
